Debbie Francis was born on January 30, 1957. She didn't know her real mom and never will. She was adopted by Frank and Virginia Netahla. She grew up in a big white house on a farm. They only had a black and white T.V. and at night time they wouldn't have signal so they couldn't watch TV trying to go to sleep. When they were trying to listen to the radio they couldn't because it would get static. She loved to go outside and play with the animals especially the sheep. When she was young she would always go out and play with the sheep. When it was cold in the winter they would bring in the sheep and put them in the stove to warm them up.
She has one brother that is named Mike. Mike now has only one leg and not all of his toes. This is because infections and other issues. When they were young mike tried to teach her how to ride a motorcycle. She kept trying but couldn't so in the end he gave up. Debbie attended in girl scouts when she was about nine. She liked to ride her bike and chill with the animals. Her most favorite thing to do when she was just a toddler was to ride on her rocking horse. Then her parents got in divorce.
For her chores she had to make the beds, sweep the floor and cook little meals. She had to cook because she only lived with her dad. One part of the day to look forward to is going to school. In school they had two classes in one room. She thought that the best guy ever was Mr.McAlpin because he was a teacher, a principal and a good person to talk to with the best advice. Debbie wanted to be a nurse just like all the other kids in class at that time. Her favorite subject was science. The biggest thing that happened at that time for her was when her teacher came in to the classroom crying because she had heard that president John f. Kennedy had been shot.
Debbie did not go to college She just went straight into farming and is very successful. She loves to farm but there is a good side and a bad side to farming. The good part is that it involves nature and she loves nature. The bad part is that she doesn't like the long hours. When Debbie was 18 years old she decided to get married to Allen Francis. they got married on August 30, 1975. their wedding was very hot all they had was a fan to cool them off. Then on January 4, 1978 Annette Marie was born. Not to much longer than Annette got a little sister named Megan Lynn born on November 20,1984. The best part about raising children for her was the love of kids that she has. The worst part about having kids was having to haul them around to the field with them every day.
Now Debbie has 5 grandchildren they are one of the best things that has happened to her. Her grandkids names are Brailey, Brieley, Addison, Brenson and Miley. Debbie loves to help kids and to ride horses. Her typical day is to get up at 7:00 maybe even 6:30 to feed the animals. During harvest she has to wake up at 5:00 to shower and pack lunches for the field. Back in her early 40s she played volleyball, worked at the school, was a girl scout leader and a member of the conservation district. The best thing about growing old is watching grand kids grow up. The worst thing in getting older is not being able to do what she used to. The best thing in her life is being homecoming queen and her grand kids. Debbie thinks that the best thing about living in town is knowing most people and that we have our own movie theater. A good life to her is happiness and knowing that others like you. She wants us to remember her trying to help us in any way possible. This is the story of my awesome grammy Debbie Francis.
