Mary Ann Jones was born on November 22, 1937 she says it was very cold outside. She grew up on a farm out by Freeport Ks. She has 1 brother and he was 10 years older than her, and he played sports with her. She was always on the go, and she liked climbing. She liked softball, and riding horses. When she was 7 years old she would plow fields and fix fences. She went to a 2 room school house in Freeport Kansas, her favorite subjects were math, spelling, and reading. When she was little she said, " She wanted to be anything that was exciting." She remembers world war ll. her brother was drafted to World War ll, and he spent two years in Japan. She says the thing that's different about growing up to day is the technology. When she was younger her telephone was a party line. A party line is a telephone line that is connected to a lot of different houses so you can eavesdrop on any conversation.
As an adult she did not go to college until she was 33 years old. She had many jobs. She was a waitress, a dispatcher, a teacher, a psychologist, and a director of special Ed. She got married when she was 17 years old. Her wedding was small. She doesn't recommend young marriages for anyone. She studied for special education. She taught for two years. Then she became a school psychologist, and a director of special education. She had four children at home, lauri was born in 1955, Melanie was born in 1960, Keith was born in 1963, Taylor was born in 1968. She says, " My favorite part of raising my children is watching them develop into independent adults." She said the hardest part was watching them and dealing with illness along the way.
Her hobbies are: sewing, cooking, going to the movies, bowling, and golf. Her typical day is reading the newspaper, making her breakfast, and taking her German shorthair bird dog on two runs every day. She says the most important thing to her is her family, because she loves all them.
She says in her 20s she was busy raising her children and helping her husband with his body and fender business. In her 30s 40s and 50s,she was in college every day for 5 years and cooking and maintaining a household at the same time. She became the supporter of her family. She is so busy doing nothing she has time to do anything.
What she liked best so far is seeing her children growing into happy adults. The thing she likes best about Anthony is the atmosphere. She says a good life is not about how much money you have, but it's about whether you like what you do. She wants her family to know how much she loves them.
