Rodney Angle's birthday is Sept. 23, 1947.He grew up in a normal neighborhood. He lived in Anthony, Ks. He had several kids to play with. "Life was a lot lot slower, and a lot different," Rhodney said. He has one sister, Judy. Rodney had a lot of good times with her."I was ornery, and bashful," he said.
He liked to play hide 'n' seek, Cowboys and Indians, and kick the can. Rodney or also known as Rod, loved to ride bikes. Everywhere he went he rode his bike. Rod and his dad raised pigeons for fun. But life wasn't just fun and games, he had some responsibilities. Some of them are to go to the store, and feed the pigeons.
Rod went to school like any other kid. The school he went to was AES. He didn't have very good grades. For example, on his seventh grade report card, his highest grade was a D+. He explained," I didn't pay attention that much. I would call myself a so-so student." Rod's favorite subject was math. His favorite teacher was Ms. Grizzwold. Ms. Grizzwold taught math.
When Rod grew up, he wanted to be a cowboy. He loved watching shows about cowboys and Indians. That was also his favorite game to play. Rod remembers president John F. Kennedy getting assassinated. He thought that was disappointing."The world is moving too fast," He complains. He also thought that it was also to sophisticated . He doesn't know his neighbors anymore, everyone's staying inside and people are always busy, busy, busy.
Rod didn't always make the best decisions when he was growing up. He didn't finish third grade. Also He didn't go to college. Rod did serve in the army, though. He was a truck driver. He had good times and bad times. He was also in the Vietnam war. He didn't sign up for it though, he was drafted. For most of his life, he ran equipment. the best part of that was that most of it was outside. He liked the fresh air of the outside. The part that he didn't like was that the equipment that he worked with was old equipment.
Rod got married on April 10th, 2000. He was 53years old when that happened. He had a 'normal' wedding. He got married to Maria Ann Angle. She has already passed away. Her birthday was March 25th, 1953. Rod has two kids, Kristy and Jerry. Jerry is 37years old, and Kristy is 44years old. She was born in 1971. Jerry was born in 1977. The hardest part about his children for Rod is watching them grow up. The best part was taking them on vacations.
Rod's favorite hobbies are raising chickens, and collecting marbles. Rod has about a little over 200 chickens, not including the chicks. He has raised chickens about his whole life. Rod has been collecting marbles about ever since he was a kid. He also used to collect belt buckles. He spends most of his life feeding chickens. Also going out of town shopping at flea markets.
Rod's best memory of his 20's-30's where spending every Sunday at his mom and dads house, eating dinner. "I hate growing older," he says," everyone gets old, then dies." The best thing about growing old is doing what he wants without being told. The hardest thing is being away from public. Being older also means he has more responsibilities.
The best thing Rod likes about his life so far is raising two wonderful kids, and living long enough to retire. His favorite thing about living in Anthony is that it is a small town. Rod says the town isn't hard to get around in. His favorite memory in Anthony was meeting his third wife, Maria. Rod's idea of a good life is good health, and enough money to do the things he wants to do. He want's his kids to remember that he loves us all!
